And now, furnitures!

As you can see in the picture, we didn’t make a good stimation of how many chairs fitted in the car. Obviously we couldn’t go like that to the city-centre so we asked for help, thanks Nadia for rescuing us! After this shopping, next ones, bring the articles to Nido, please.

We have already bought quite a few of them and we are bringing them to Nido because this weekend is… the assembling weekend! There is a topic for each weekend, last one was painting, this one is furnitures and we hope next one is the opening! We are doing all we can do for getting it.

Tomorrow, Saturday, we will be all day at Nido assembling furnitures, all of you that want to show up to see the space, or to say hi, or to help, for whatever you want to we will be there. We promise refreshments, snacks and fun

This weekend we have been painting Nido. The previous colour was light brown, and we didn’t like it at all so we decided to paint it in white to make it brighter. The thing is that we didn’t know how hard it is to cover a colored wall. Luckly, we had Nadia, Concha and Martin’s help, thanks a lot guys! Without you we would still be there painting.

After 3 layers of paint it seems that finally the wall is radiant white, as the paint bottle promised, and not that beige colour that a friend saw after the second layer.

We also had the opportunity to meet some of the people interested in Nido and who already support the project. A pleasure!

Now time to look for furnitures and start decorating. The countdown to open in December has started!

One of the things that we are clear about running Nido is that we want to find the perfect space. We have been visiting many offices in Malaga city centre and so far there are only two that we like.

Right now we like better one that we visited the last minute that have more possibilities. It is in the city centre, near Larios street, and it has a big open space for coworking, a meeting room and another space that we could rent for groups or small start-ups willing to work together and wanting a space of their own.

We are still very excited about this project and we are looking forward to starting sharing with the future members of Nido. We want Nido to be as collaborative as possible and we think that this is the ideal moment to start putting ideas together. Right now we are in Berlin, closing things here, but in October we will be back in Malaga and we would love to meet those of you interested in Nido to know each other and chat a it about Nido, our projects, the space, etc.

The reasons to go back to Malaga were broad: it is our city, we missed our friends and the long chats in “Los Baños del Carmen”, the sea and, why not?, also the weather. When we were starting to think on coming back the first doubts appeared: the professional environment that we had in Berlin will be lost. Working in a place where you are surrounded by people that are similar to you is very motivating. Even if the projects are not yours, it is great to see that there are people around with interesting ideas and willing to do stuff. But, would it be really lost?

We think that there is a lot of creativity in Malaga. We are convinced that there are many independent workers in Malaga, or that moved to other cities and now they are thinking of coming back, and that feel that there can’t find a group of people with similar interests. Nido is our attempt for a change that we believe is possible, a catalyst for that community we are all looking for. It is necessary that people with ideas and willing to do them don’t leave Malaga just because they don’t find people they connect with and those that already left start thinking to come back as they feel less alone.

After some weeks designing and organising the content, finally we have the new Nido website. Also, and thanks to our friend Jorge, Nido now have its own logo (thanks a lot Jorge!). In this blog we will be sharing the whole process until the opening of the space.

Currently we are looking for a place we like in Malaga city centre, in September we already have some scheduled visits. Our idea is to open between November and December.

We are two girls who work remotely for a software company, so what we want is to create a very nice place, different from the classic offices, as we will also work there. We would like people to think of Nido not just a place to work, but also a space to develop ideas, therefore we are planning to organise events for the members of Nido.

We want to be able to host around 15 people in an open space and offer different memberships to be as flexible as possible: from people who wants to come everyday, with a fixed desk, to those that just want to drop in from time to time.
